RG Enters Adolescence

November 11, 2009

My wife and I just spoke with Mommy (Random Granddaughter’s birth mom and my daughter’s partner) on the telephone. Life is fairly stressful for the family. My daughter is struggling with her graduate school classes, though it is hard to know what is going on as she always lamented she was failing all the way through school when she was doing fine.

RG (no surprise to me) is going through full-flown adolescence crises in kindergarten. She is picking the worst peers for buddies and acting up in class. Her food drama queen episodes have escalated beyond belief. She doesn’t have an inappropriate romantic friend yet, but that may only be because she is keeping him or her a secret.

Let’s see. It’s only November. Will she be suspended by January?

well, I’d say it was better that she get through her ‘acting out’ stage now, rather than when it really could have dire consequences. Not eating vegetables and throwing a tantrum is a lot less likely to ruin her life than experimenting with drugs and sex 🙂

But I imagine it must be very stressful for your daughter and her partner to deal with, especially on top of an already stressful situation with her graduate school class.

Here’s hoping that this behaviour is successfully managed swiftly!

  2. Something tells me that RG will continue to be a high-maintenance person throughout her developmental years. The up side is that she’ll never be boring.

There’s nothing like a ultra-intelligent child with wild emotions. Good thing her mommies did not name her “Carrie.”

Instead, perhaps you can offer RG to Stephen King. I bet you, he’d fix her- *giggling.*

Be sure to make the offer good. You might get rich out of the whole thing!

    (Poor Mommies!)

Letter on the way to Mr. King. I will let you know if we get any good offers.
